Tatsumi is the youngest warrior in the roster and is not one of the Kage. His introduction in Bushido Blade 1 describes him as running away from the Kage after he found out about their true identity. He has never killed before his first battle in story mode, and expresses remorse in every battle he partakes in during the events of Bushido Blade 1.

During the events of Utsusemi's special ending, he describes him as similar to his father, heavily implying he is Utsusemi's son. Tatsumi himself, however, makes no mention of this. During the events of Bushido Blade 2, it is revealed that he is the father of the leader of a rival clan to the one shown during the events of the first.
