Gameplay and Features[]

Unlike most fighting games, even other 3D games, Bushido Blade differentiates itself with three major mechanics:

  1. Weapons are modeled as 3D objects, meaning they both block and inflict attacks. Instead of a "Block Button", Square is used as a parry, moving your weapon into a position to deflect an attack. Further, parried attacks leave the defender in a state of recoil based on the characters strength and the strength of the parried attack.
  2. There is no health bar. One clean strike is all it takes to kill either player. Weaker, glancing blows. wound and break limbs, leading a kneeling state and a slowing of moves that require both arms.
  3. There is no timer. Fights can be as quick as a single blow or long drawn out battles of attrition.
